Russia threatens to strike UK military facilities
The Russian Foreign Ministry has expressed its protest over British Foreign Secretary David Cameron's statements about Kyiv's right to strike Russia with British weapons
The Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
"Cameron's hostile attack directly contradicts the assurances of the British side, which were previously made when the Kyiv regime received long-range cruise missiles, that they would not be used on Russian territory under any circumstances," the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
They believe that Cameron has de facto recognized his country as a party to the conflict.
It is noted that the Russian side considers Cameron's words as evidence of a serious escalation and confirmation of London's increased involvement in the hostilities on the side of Kyiv.
Lavrov threatened that "any military facilities and equipment of the United Kingdom on the territory of Ukraine and abroad may be targeted as a response to Ukrainian strikes with the use of British weapons on the territory of Russia".
- On May 2, British Foreign Secretary David Cameron said that Ukraine has the right to use British weapons to strike back at Russian territory.
- At the same time, US Ambassador to Ukraine Bridget Brink said that the US is committed to helping Ukraine defend itself against Russian occupiers, but does not encourage the use of US weapons on Russian territory.
