Russia launches over 70 Shahed drones against Ukraine - Zelenskyy
On the night of September 14, the Ukrainian Defense Forces destroyed 72 Shahed attack UAVs that the Russian army launched at Ukraine
Ukraine's Air Force reports.
In total, on the night of September 14, the Air Force's radio engineering troops detected and followed 76 Shaheds from the directions of Kursk, Yeysk - Russia, and Chauda - Crimea.
The aviation, anti-aircraft missile troops, electronic warfare units and mobile fire groups of the Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled the air attack, the military said.
As a result of the air battle, 72 Russian attack UAVs were shot down in the Odesa, Mykolaiv, Kherson, Poltava, Kharkiv, Kyiv, Donetsk, Zhytomyr, Dnipropetrovsk, Cherkasy, Vinnytsia, and Sumy regions.
In addition, two Russian drones have been locally lost on the territory of Ukraine, and two more have returned to Russia.
Earlier, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy wrote on Telegram that Russia had launched more than 70 Shahed drones across Ukraine that night.
“Thanks to the forces of our defenders, most of them were shot down,” Zelenskyy said, thanking the soldiers of army aviation, mobile fire groups and air defense, who defended Ukrainians all night in the Kyiv, Cherkasy, Zhytomyr, Vinnytsia, Odesa, Sumy, Dnipropetrovsk, Poltava, Kherson, Kharkiv, and Donetsk regions.
“We need more capabilities to strengthen our air shield, air defense and long-range capabilities to continue protecting lives and our people. We are working on this with all partners of Ukraine,” the President emphasized.
