The Ukrainian Armed Forces' General Staff reported this on February 1.

Russian attacks across Ukraine

Russia continues to wage a war of aggression. Despite significant losses, it does not abandon its plans for the complete occupation of Ukraine, ignores the laws and customs of war, uses terror tactics, launches strikes, and attacks both military and civilian targets. The Russian army is actively using aviation and combat drones, conducting assault operations with the support of armored vehicles.

The operational situation in eastern and southern Ukraine remains challenging.

There were 58 combat engagements over the last day. Russia launched 2 missile attacks, one of them with a Kh-59 guided missile at the civilian infrastructure of Myrnohrad, Donetsk region. The Russian forces also launched 66 airstrikes and 38 attacks with multiple launch rocket systems at the Ukrainian troops’ positions and populated areas. Unfortunately, Russian terrorist attacks resulted in civilian casualties. Residential private and apartment buildings, schools and other civilian infrastructure were destroyed and damaged.

Frontline situation

Near the state Ukrainian border with Russia and Belarus, the situation hasn't changed significantly, and no enemy offensive groups have been detected. Certain units of the Belarusian Armed Forces are performing tasks in the areas bordering Ukraine.

At the same time, the Russian army continued shelling the entire borderline with mortars and artillery: over 40 settlements across the Chernihiv, Sumy, and Kharkiv regions were attacked.

In the Kupyansk sector, Ukrainian defenders repelled 5 Russian attacks near Ivanivka, Kharkiv region, where the Russian  troops tried to break through the Ukrainian defense. About 15 settlements came under artillery and mortar fire.

In the Lyman sector, Ukrainian defenders repelled an attack near Terny in the Donetsk region, where the Russian army, supported by air power, unsuccessfully tried to break through the defense of Ukrainian troops. About 15 localities suffered from enemy artillery and mortar attacks.

In the Bakhmut sector, the Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled an attack near Klishchiivka, Donetsk region, where the Russian army unsuccessfully tried to improve its tactical position. More than 10 localities came under artillery and mortar fire.

In the Avdiivka sector, Ukrainian defenders repelled 15 Russian attacks near Avdiivka and another 5 near Pervomaiske and Nevelske in the Donetsk region, where the Russian troops, with the support of aviation, unsuccessfully tried to break through the Ukrainian defense. More than 15 localities came under artillery and mortar fire.

In the Marinka sector, the Ukrainian Defense Forces are holding back the enemy near Krasnohirivka, Heorhiivka and Novomykhailivka in the Donetsk region. Here, the invading Russian forces, with the support of aviation, unsuccessfully tried to improve the tactical situation 11 times. About 5 settlements were subjected to Russian fire.

In the Shakhtarsk sector, Russia did not conduct any offensive (assault) actions. However, about 10 localities came under artillery and mortar fire.

In the Zaporizhzhia sector, the Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled an enemy attack near Robotyne. About 20 localities came under artillery and mortar fire.

In the Kherson sector, Russia has not abandoned its intention to drive Ukrainian units from their footholds on the left bank of the Dnipro River. Thus, 13 unsuccessful attempts to storm the positions of Ukrainian troops were made over the course of the day. About 10 settlements were subjected to constant Russian attacks.

Ukrainian strikes against Russian military targets

During the day, Ukrainian aviation struck 13 military positions and 1 anti-aircraft missile system.

The missile troops struck 2 manpower concentration areas, 4 artillery pieces, and an electronic warfare station.

Also, on the night of February 1, the military intelligence of Ukraine destroyed a missile boat of the Russian Black Sea Fleet in the western part of the temporarily occupied Crimea.

  • Over the past day, Ukrainian troops repelled Russian attacks in 7 directions and killed 1,000 soldiers. 66 firefights took place at the front.
