Russia currently lacks resources and conditions to quickly capture Chasiv Yar - Information Resistance

Oleksandr Kovalenko, military and political observer of the Information Resistance group, believes that it is risky for Russia to conduct offensive actions on Chasiv Yar without capturing Bohdanivka, Ivanivske, Klishchiivka and Andriivka on the eastern flank

He expressed this opinion on Espreso TV.

"The Russians have a link to fetish dates, so not only will the inauguration of the so-called Russian President Putin take place on May 7, but there will also be another such date on May 9, which indicates that the Russian command is indeed setting certain tasks for the units involved in the Chasiv Yar offensive. However, the enemy does not have sufficient resources to capture the fortified area quickly and powerfully. In addition, the occupiers have not created the conditions to realize this. And by conditions, I mean the capture of the villages located to the east of Chasiv Yar, namely Bohdanivka, Ivanivske, Klishchiivka and Andriivka," commented the military and political observer of the Information Resistance group.

According to him, without capturing these settlements, conducting an offensive operation in the city itself, for example, conducting urban battles, is most risky for the Russian troops.

"Klishchiivka and Andriivka are the southern flank along the 0506 and 0504 roads, meaning that if the Russians start advancing, this particular flank will be problematic for them. Accordingly, there is a risk of being cut off. They are unlikely to take such risks, although again, powerful offensive actions may unfold after the inauguration, most likely in June. In other words, the second half of 2024 may catalyze the process of offensive actions at Chasiv Yar," Oleksandr Kovalenko summarized.

  • On April 13, on a telegram, the Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Oleksandr Syrskyi, said that he had visited the positions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces on the Eastern Front. The Russian Federation has significantly intensified its offensive, so decisions were made to strengthen the most problematic defense areas on the eastern front.
  • After two days of work at the front, Ukrainian Armed Forces Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi also said that Russia is trying to break through the Ukrainian defense west of Bakhmut, reach the Siverskyi Donets-Donbas canal and capture Chasiv Yar.
