Russia claims ‘objectives achieved’ after massive strikes on Ukraine

According to Radio Svoboda, the Russian side said, "the objectives of the strikes were achieved, and all designated targets were hit." 

The assault was one of the most intense in recent weeks. As of now, at least 14 people are confirmed dead in Kyiv and one in Odesa, with dozens more injured. Authorities warn that the death toll may rise as search and rescue operations continue.

According to emergency medical services, 14 people were killed and 114 injured in Kyiv alone. The city has declared June 18 a Day of Mourning.

• In the early hours of June 17, Russia attacked Ukraine with drones and missiles. Strikes were reported in Kyiv, the Kyiv region, Odesa, and Zaporizhzhia.
• During a massive attack on Kyiv on the night of June 17, Russia launched strike drones from various directions to encircle the capital, and a Kh-101 cruise missile hit a multi-story residential building, causing significant destruction and civilian casualties.
• Following Russia’s attacks on Ukrainian cities during the night of June 17, Lithuania and Estonia emphasized that only sustained pressure can halt Moscow’s aggression.
