Russia builds up major forces along Zaporizhzhia front
Petro Andriushchenko, head of the Center for the Study of Occupation, says that an increase in active offensive actions by Russian forces in southern Ukraine is expected
He said this on the Espreso TV channel.
“We expect an increase in active offensive actions by the enemy in the south. Over the past month and a half, the invaders have been amassing a large number of personnel. A significant number of ammunition depots have been created here. A lot of military equipment has also been moved from the territory of the Russian Federation, particularly from the Rostov region. The same has happened from occupied Crimea,” Andriushchenko noted.
According to the head of the Center for the Study of Occupation, large enemy resources are concentrated in the Zaporizhzhia region.
“That is why we expect that on the Zaporizhzhia front there will be not one, not two, and not even three points where the Russians will try to attack, break through, and approach Zaporizhzhia from one side, and from the other—to reach the section of the highway between Zaporizhzhia and Donetsk, in order to facilitate their advance in the Donetsk region.
This could happen very soon. We have already seen offensive actions and repelled assaults, but so far it cannot be said that a full-scale offensive has begun. Rather, it is an attempt to find a weak spot where the main blow should be concentrated,” Andriushchenko emphasized.
The head of the Center for the Study of Occupation added that as of the end of last week and the beginning of this week, there has been a certain slowdown in movements through Mariupol from Russia, but this does not mean a complete stop.
“We are recording the systematic accumulation of reserves that the enemy is transferring to the Zaporizhzhia direction. So far, these forces have not been involved in combat operations, but they are in close proximity to the front line,” Andriushchenko explained.
- During the day on April 22, 144 combat clashes were recorded on the Russian-Ukrainian front. In the Pokrovsk direction, the Russian army carried out 53 attacks.
