Putin's urgent pursuit of victory: serviceman comments on Avdiivka attacks
Ivan Tymochko, a military serviceman and head of the Reservist Council of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, observed that Putin aims to showcase retribution for downed planes to Russian society
He spoke about it on Espreso TV channel.
"The enemy conducted troop regrouping and specific rotational actions. Putin tasked the occupation of Avdiivka to quell discontent in Russian society after events involving Russian aircraft. Putin is eager to demonstrate some form of victory or activation, seeking revenge for the destroyed aircraft. The command in this direction is also aware of this. This combination of events urges them to actively advance in the Avdiivka direction," Tymochko stated.
Tymochko highlighted that the Russians acknowledge the urgency of time, as it is not in their favor to capture Avdiivka, especially with the approaching Russian presidential elections.
"Avdiivka, situated at the junction of the east and south, poses a threat to the Russian military presence in the Donetsk region and could become problematic akin to Mariupol. These events are linked to the aggressor's activation in the Avdiivka region to appease Putin after losses in the airspace. However, it's premature to claim that the Russians are securing a foothold somewhere," emphasized Tymochko.
- As per the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, in the past 24 hours there were 94 combat clashes, with Ukrainian forces repelling almost a hundred offensive attempts in seven key directions, eliminating 1,110 Russian soldiers.
- Despite no significant successes for both Russian and Ukrainian troops in the past week, the primary objective of the occupying Russian forces remains the encirclement of Avdiivka.
