
Putin ready to continue war against Ukraine if talks with U.S. fail
Russia is counting on U.S. President Donald Trump to facilitate a peace deal with terms acceptable to Moscow. However, Russian leader Vladimir Putin is prepared to continue the war if negotiations with the U.S. fail
This was reported by Bloomberg, citing sources.
According to the agency's sources, the Kremlin is not concerned about the threat from Washington regarding the secondary sanctions on Russian oil due to the slow progress in the potential peace deal.
At the same time, Putin understands that Trump is his best chance to end the war and is counting on diplomatic relations with the U.S.
Bloomberg’s sources in Moscow say Russia hopes that the U.S. president will help facilitate a peace agreement favorable to the Kremlin regarding the war in Ukraine. However, the Russians are prepared to continue the war if negotiations fail.
"Russia would prefer to continue certain mutual efforts to search for a settlement, which requires time and effort to achieve," said Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov in response to a comment request."
- On March 30, Donald Trump expressed strong dissatisfaction and anger that Russian leader Vladimir Putin had questioned the legitimacy of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, calling such statements counterproductive.
