Putin is lying and sabotaging diplomacy to keep war going — Zelenskyy
The conditions set by Russian leader Vladimir Putin indicate that he is not seeking a ceasefire, and therefore, the international community must exert pressure on Russia to achieve peace in Ukraine
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy shared a statement on Telegram.
“Yesterday, we heard Putin’s statements — he is presenting conditions that clearly show he does not want a ceasefire. He wants war — it has always been evident, and it remains so now. Putin is lying about the real situation on the battlefield, about the losses, and about the true state of his economy, which has been crippled by his foolish imperial ambitions. He is doing everything he can for diplomacy to fail,” Zelenskyy stated.
According to him, Putin is imposing difficult and unacceptable conditions to stall progress, just as he did with the Minsk agreement.
"Every condition Putin presents is simply an attempt to block any diplomatic efforts. This is how Russia operates," Zelenskyy emphasized.
He expressed gratitude to European partners, the United States, and Saudi Arabia for their support in ending the war in Ukraine and called for continued pressure on Russia.
“The pressure should be directed at those who refuse to end the war. It must be applied to Russia. Only decisive actions can bring an end to this war that has lasted for years,” Zelenskyy emphasized.
