Pokrovsk direction is top priority for Russian army - military expert Zgurets
Serhiy Zgurets, Defense Express CEO and military expert, says that the Pokrovsk direction remains the highest priority for Russian troops today
He shared his opinions with Espreso TV.
"If we talk about the Pokrovsk direction, it remains the highest priority for the Russians. Almost a third of combat clashes over the last day took place in the Pokrovsk direction. First of all, it concerns Ocheretyne. There the Russian army is trying to expand the bridgehead in several directions. In particular, it is trying to completely capture Novooleksandrivka. Yesterday, the DeepState OSINT project reported that the invaders had captured Novooleksandrivka; then there were some denials from the Center for Strategic Communications, which said that the western part of the settlement was under the control of the Ukrainian Armed Forces," said Zgurets.
The analyst added that the Russian army is trying to advance toward the Pokrovsk-Chasiv Yar highway.
"In any case, we have to record the fact that the enemy is trying to expand the bridgehead near Ocheretyne. One of the directions of the Russian movement is from Novooleksandrivka to Vozdvyzhenka. Vozdvyzhenka is the last settlement before the Pokrovsk-Chasiv Yar road, which is already under the fire control of the invading army. That is why we understand that the enemy will try to advance towards this road," he added.
- On June 23, Ukraine's General Staff reported that 116 combat clashes had taken place at the front since the beginning of the day. Ukrainian defenders repel attacks by Russian troops, most of them in the Pokrovsk direction.
- On June 23, the Ukrainian non-governmental OSINT project DeepState reported that the Russian army had completely occupied the village of Novooleksandrivka, Donetsk region, and is advancing along the Pokrovsk-Kostiantynivka highway. However, the Ukrainian military denied the information.
