Espreso correspondent Tetiana Vysotska reported that on April 10, the issue of deploying a military contingent in Ukraine was officially discussed during a meeting of the Coalition of the Willing, with representatives from the UK and France presenting a relevant plan

She spoke about this on Espreso TV.

“Yesterday, on April 10, at a meeting of the contact group of the Coalition of the Willing, the issue of deploying peacekeeping forces on Ukraine's territory was on the agenda. That is, this issue is already being considered officially. And this includes more than 30 countries from around the world and Europe. The main issue is the number, location and method of deployment of the military contingent on Ukraine's territory. It is interesting that yesterday this discussion moved from the political level of the heads of state to a more practical one. In particular, the discussion was held among defense ministers and chiefs of general staff. Yesterday, behind closed doors, the two Chiefs of the General Staff of France and the United Kingdom presented their plans, which are of course secret,” said Vysotska.

According to the correspondent, it is expected that more than 13 countries may provide their troops to form a peacekeeping contingent to be deployed in Ukraine.

“Another question is whether it will be a deterrence mission or a monitoring mission, etc. So far, there is no information on this. Now everyone is trying to calculate how many countries will be ready to join such a military contingent. As of today, 5 countries have already announced that they are ready to deploy their troops in Ukraine - France, the United Kingdom, Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia. However, there is an opinion on the sidelines that it will be 10 or even 13 countries,” she added.

  • On Thursday, April 10, a meeting of the Coalition of the Willing states began in Brussels. Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov has also arrived. At the meeting, four objectives were outlined for the Security Assurance Forces in Ukraine.
