He spoke about this on the Espreso TV channel.

"I recently returned from Avdiivka, I evacuated 7 people. These were locations in the old Avdiivka area, where there are multi-storey buildings. People are leaving because their homes are completely destroyed. Six months ago, I persuaded this family to evacuate, but they refused. Only when there was a direct hit to their house did they agree to leave. I also evacuated a family with an adult child," said Makhovskyi.

According to the volunteer, when you see destroyed houses, you get scared. "There are people who are still trapped under the rubble because special equipment cannot enter the city right now. Even the bodies of the dead cannot be taken away.

"It is very dangerous to drive on the road towards Avdiivka. Recently, during the evacuation of people from the city center, there were two missiles hits two houses away from that place. One man was killed and his wife was injured. A week ago, a drone dropped a grenade on the evacuation team, which exploded near the car. When you are driving along the road, you are always under enemy fire," added Makhovskyi.

  • In the first 2 weeks of 2024, the Russian troops dropped about 250 guided bombs on Avdiivka, Donetsk region. At the same time, the city suffered 146 air strikes in 2023.
  • Over the past day, 98 combat clashes took place on the frontline. At the same time, Ukraine's Defense Forces eliminated 730 Russian soldiers.
