Ukrainian politician and diplomat Roman Bezsmertnyi noted that as a result of Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico's and Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban's presence at closed meetings in NATO or the EU, information quickly reaches Moscow

He said this on Espreso TV.

‘Orban is not a bee, but a drone. As you know, worker bees drive drones out for the winter and they die. And now the moment has come when this drone must be expelled from the EU and NATO. Because it is obvious that in the current situation, Orban is performing a certain function as an agent of Moscow. Under the current circumstances, this is an imitation in the issues he voices, such as the dialogue process or the exchange of prisoners of war. This information is on the surface, and everyone knows perfectly well that the Kremlin is blocking the exchange of prisoners of war, the exchange of the wounded, even the transfer of those who have died and whose parents are asking for their bodies to be returned. Thus, such activities are 2/3 imitative,’ the politician commented.

According to him, Orban's EU presidency is coming to an end and he needs to put something on the table and show what he has done. In fact, apart from the fact that he has been making counterproductive trips, he has done absolutely nothing.

‘You can see how Fico played along with Orban, reminding him of the Munich Agreement and pointing out that in fact this whole process could end with everyone remembering that it is necessary to divide the territory of Ukraine and thus pay off the enemy. That is why I see Orban's actions as simply fulfilling the Kremlin's instructions. However, it is important that the EU and NATO react correctly now. I have been saying for a long time that we should not identify Orban and Hungarians, Fico and Slovaks. It is necessary to deprive Orban specifically of participation in NATO meetings and the right to participate and vote in EU Council meetings. Everyone has already noticed how the presence of both Fico and Orban leads to the fact that information about what is discussed at closed meetings in NATO or the EU very quickly reaches Moscow. This is a very dangerous thing,’ Bezsmertnyi concluded.

  • On December 11, media reported that Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban had a telephone conversation with Russian leader Vladimir Putin immediately after meeting with U.S. President-elect Donald Trump in Florida.
  • President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reacted to the phone call: ‘We hope that Orban will not call Assad in Moscow.’
  • Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said he had offered Ukraine and Russia a Christmas truce and a large-scale prisoner exchange.
