No signs of Easter ceasefire in Ukraine — military expert
Military expert Ivan Kyrychevskyi explained that there are currently no prerequisites for establishing a ceasefire during the Easter holidays
He expressed this opinion on Espreso TV.
“The idea of a ceasefire over the Easter holidays seems more like fantasy. For a ceasefire to happen, the military-political leadership of the Russian Federation would have to be somehow removed. At this point, there are no conditions for a ceasefire to be implemented for Easter. Even the discussion of deploying a limited European military contingent to Ukraine as a deterrent to Russia is at a very low level. I’d say it’s at the stage where not even the paper for those plans has been printed yet. So, on the one hand, the idea of an Easter ceasefire sounds appealing and gives false hope,” Kyrychevskyi explained.
The expert urged people not to nurture false hopes about an Easter ceasefire. He stressed that the Russians might even intensify attacks on civilians.
“On the other hand, we must be ready for the possibility that the Russians will try to cause even more trouble by Easter. It’s better to prepare for the worst and not get your hopes up. Our enemy is very deceitful. And if such a miracle actually happens, it’s better to be pleasantly surprised afterward,” he added.
