Ukraine needs to bring experienced negotiators to Riyadh talks — Ukrainian MP
MP Mariia Ionova believes that the Ukrainian authorities should involve more experienced negotiators for the talks in Saudi Arabia
She shared this opinion on the Espreso TV channel.
"Right now, the situation looks like Ukraine is just receiving information after the talks between the U.S. and Russia. This should not be the case. Ukraine must be an active participant, and I hope we can restore our subjectivity in these negotiations. For this, we definitely need European leaders who continue talks with the American side. We don't have time, but the Russians do. They are very satisfied with this situation. They can continue their aggression, and, furthermore, the American side is considering their wishes," Ionova said.
According to the member of parliament, Ukraine has professional and experienced diplomats who should be involved in negotiations with the U.S. and Russia.
"It is unacceptable for Ukraine to become a bargaining chip in the negotiations between the U.S. and Russia. Ukraine needs professional negotiators. We have them, from former presidents of Ukraine to diplomats. For me, it is truly a crime when the president does not invite strong negotiators, knowing who is on the other side," she added.
