Monitoring ceasefire with technical means is nearly impossible, says military expert
Military expert and co-chairman of the Prava Sprava NGO, Dmytro Sniehyriov, believes that it is impossible to effectively monitor a ceasefire using technical means alone
He shared his opinions with Espreso TV.
"The option being proposed today, particularly using satellite images and UAVs to monitor the ceasefire, will not work. This is a completely stillborn project. Let me explain using the example of the successful operation of the Ukrainian Defense Forces in the Kursk region. Even the Russians, with their powerful satellite reconnaissance capabilities, were unable to notice the operational deployment of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Sumy region in time. Therefore, if there is any military and political pressure on Ukraine from strategic partners during the transfer of intelligence to us, how will we verify the accumulation and redeployment of Russian forces?" Sniehyriov explained.
According to the expert, the length of the front line makes it impossible to monitor compliance with the ceasefire using technical means.
"The same applies to UAVs. The front line is 1,200 km long. Therefore, it is impossible to verify Russian forces’ redeployment and accumulation. It is impossible to monitor the ceasefire with the help of technical means," he added.
