Lithuania transfers M577 armored personnel carriers to Ukraine
As part of its military support, Lithuania handed over M577 armored personnel carriers to the Ukrainian military, which were delivered on April 5
LRT reported with reference to the Lithuanian Ministry of National Defence.
"Continuity of support for Ukraine is our strategic goal. Weapons and equipment supplied by us and our allies make a decisive contribution to Ukraine's struggle for independence and the security of Europe as a whole. We will continue to support Ukraine as long as necessary," said Minister of National Defence Laurynas Kasčiūnas
In general, military support from Lithuania includes weapons, ammunition, drones, anti-drone equipment, training for soldiers, and repair of heavy equipment.
As noted in the publication, Lithuania has also developed a plan for long-term support for Ukraine: in 2024-2026, it is planned to transfer a package of military support worth 200 million euros to Ukraine for new acquisitions.
Since the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion, Lithuania has provided Ukraine with military assistance worth around €605 million.
- On April 5, Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal arrived in Lithuania to meet with his Lithuanian counterpart, Ingrida Šimonyte. The heads of government discussed support for Ukraine's European integration, the confiscation of Russian assets and other important issues. Lithuania announced assistance in various areas.
