Kurakhove, Pokrovsk sectors see most intense Russian offensives - Ukraine's General Staff

Since the beginning of September 10, 76 combat engagements have occurred on the frontline, with the most intense fighting taking place in the Kurakhove and Pokrovsk sectors

Ukraine's General Staff reported the information.

Russian artillery and aviation continue to attack along the border areas of the Sumy and Chernihiv regions. Today, artillery shelling from Russian territory hit the areas of Mykolaivka, Malushyne, Halahanivka, Popivka, Tovstodubove, and Oleksandrivka. Additionally, Russian troops fired guided aerial bombs at Hremiach, Pustohorod, Hlukhiv, Richky, Pavlivka, and Mykolaivka, dropping a total of 20 bombs.

In Russia’s Kursk region, the Russian army carried out eight airstrikes, dropping ten bombs in total.

Frontline situation

In the Kharkiv sector, Russian forces have launched an assault on Ukrainian defensive positions near Vovchansk, where a battle is currently underway.

In the Kupyansk sector, Russia carried out five attacks on Ukrainian positions near Synkivka and Lozova. Ukrainian troops are holding their ground.

In the Lyman sector, the invading forces conducted 16 attacks on Ukrainian positions around Druzheliubivka, Tverdokhlibove, Nevske, Makiivka, Novosadove, and Torske today. Eleven engagements have concluded, while five are still ongoing.

In the Siversk sector, Ukrainian defenders successfully repelled nine attacks by the occupying forces near Verkhniokamianske, Hryhorivka, and Spirne.

In the Kramatorsk sector, Russian troops launched three assault attacks on Ukrainian positions near Ivanivske and Kalynivka. One firefight is currently ongoing.

In the Toretsk sector, the number of Russian attacks has risen to five. Russia is focusing its efforts around Dachne, Toretsk, and Nelipivka. The Armed Forces of Ukraine have repelled two Russian attacks, with three firefights still in progress. Russian troops are also actively using aviation, with bombings reported in the areas of Toretsk and Ivanopillia.

Since the start of the day, Russia in the Pokrovsk sector, supported by aviation, has made 14 attempts to push Ukrainian defenders from their positions around Novooleksandrivka, Vozdvyzhenka, Svyrydonivka, Hrodivka, Ivanivka, Novohrodivka, Mykhailivka, and Marynivka. Ukrainian forces have repelled 11 of these attacks, with three still ongoing. The extent of Russia’s losses is being assessed.

Fighting continues near Krasnohorivka, Heorhiivka, Ukrainsk, Antonivka, and Kostiantynivka in the Kurakhove sector. Today, 14 attacks by the occupying Russian army were recorded, with three still ongoing.

In the Vremivka sector, Russia has not launched any new offensives but is continuing to shell positions and settlements and conduct air strikes.

In the Orikhiv sector, the Russian army made one unsuccessful attempt to attack Ukrainian units near Mali Shcherbaky.

In the Prydniprovskyi sector, Russia made five unsuccessful attempts to dislodge Ukrainian troops from their positions.

  • Over the past day, the occupying Russian army lost 1,380 soldiers, 50 artillery systems, and 39 drones in the war in Ukraine.
