The ISW report states.
Despite significant Russian successes in early May, Russian Defense Minister Andrei Belousov greatly overestimated Russia's achievements in Ukraine since the beginning of 2024. On May 31, Belousov claimed that Russian forces had captured 880 square kilometers in 2024.
“ISW has observed evidence confirming that Russian forces have only seized approximately 752 square kilometers in 2024, however. ISW previously assessed that Russian forces seized about 516 square kilometers between January 1, 2024, and April 29, 2024,” the statement says.
- Over the last day, 70 combat clashes were registered at the front, with the most intense situation in the Pokrovsk direction.
