International affairs expert Yevhen Dobriak believes that Trump's policy could lead to a global war

He shared his opinions with Espreso TV.

"What Donald Trump is doing today and his policies do not fit into the global governance system of such a major hegemonic state as the U.S. From trade wars with allies to domestic political agendas — everything he does could have a profound impact on global processes.

Currently, Taiwan's leadership and other institutions are already discussing the possibility of a Chinese military operation as early as 2027, or even sooner. And this is all a consequence of Trump’s policies. That’s the real danger, especially when it comes to his approach to Russia’s war against Ukraine," Dobriak emphasized.

According to the international affairs expert, another major flaw in Trump's strategy is his belief that Russia can be separated from China by offering business deals and cooperation agreements with the U.S. This, however, is impossible.

"Like attracts like, and China will never let go of Russia. It has completely absorbed it — economically, through military-technical cooperation, and via a high level of trade that sustains Russia’s economy. China won’t let go of Russia, but Trump thinks he can change that," Dobriak stated.

The international affairs expert also added that Trump is making a critical mistake by involving Putin as a mediator in negotiations on Iran, which will bring no positive outcome, with the resumption of hostilities in Gaza already underway.

"It is difficult to predict the future situation when Putin is clearly manipulating Trump for his own interests, using him as much as possible. Putin is playing his own game and will continue to exploit Trump to the fullest.

If Trump fails to recognize this and does not take decisive, tough measures, we will face a highly challenging situation — not only for Ukraine but also for Europe and the entire European security architecture. On a global scale, serious challenges may arise, potentially leading to a real, large-scale war due to Trump's policies," Dobriak concluded.

  • Diplomat, former Ambassador of Ukraine to the U.S. and France, Oleh Shamshur, believes that Donald Trump's main goal is to end Russia's war against Ukraine at any cost.
