If Trump doesn’t stop Putin in Ukraine, China could strike Taiwan – U.S. diplomat Herbst
John Herbst, former U.S. Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Ukraine, and Director of the Atlantic Council's Eurasia Center, says U.S. President Trump is making “big mistakes”
He shared his opinions with Espreso TV.
The diplomat said that Putin's ambition is total control over Ukraine, which is why he keeps trying to take over the country. Trump aims to improve relations with Putin while also seeking to ensure a sustainable peace. However, the diplomat believes it will be difficult for Trump to achieve this, as Putin will not abandon his intentions.
He added that if Trump wants to achieve peace — one that is both sustainable and just — he needs to take all necessary measures to ensure that Putin ceases his war in Ukraine.
Herbst emphasizes that if Trump allows Putin to take control of Ukraine, it will likely lead to a Chinese attack on Taiwan in the near future, which he describes as a disaster for the United States. “I understand the general concern and the fact that Trump is really making a big mistake right now,” Herbst emphasized.
- Diplomat John Herbst also believes that Putin's goal is to establish effective political control over Ukraine, which contradicts Donald Trump's policy.
