German government does not expect ceasefire in Ukraine soon
Germany does not expect a quick ceasefire in Ukraine and is preparing new military aid deliveries
Steffen Hebestreit, the government's spokesman, said this, BILD reports.
The German government assumes that a ceasefire in Ukraine will not be achieved in the near future. “It will take some time,” said government spokesman Steffen Hebestreit.
According to him, Germany's leading parties have reached a preliminary agreement on a €3 billion aid package for Ukraine. As a result, new arms deliveries will begin in the coming weeks, primarily consisting of artillery ammunition.
Other weapon systems, such as the Iris-T and Patriot air defense systems, still need to be ordered. They will be ready for delivery in one to two years due to manufacturers’ full production capacity.
On Monday, March 17, Germany announced a new aid package for Ukraine, including Gepard anti-aircraft systems, Vector drones and ammunition.
