Production of a million FPV drones per year is 'quite real', Ukrainian minister says
Ukraine has the technical capability to produce 1 million FPV drones and even more within a year. The number of manufacturing companies has increased to 200
Ukrainian Digital Transformation Minister Mykhailo Fedorov said in an interview.
"In 2022, only 7 drone manufacturers passed trial operation and could receive government contracts. This is critically low. Then we gathered and interviewed more than 80 manufacturers, discussed their obstacles, and started working on changing the policy. We adopted more than 20 laws and regulations, eliminated taxes on components, and allowed companies to incorporate into Diia.City. We have also increased the margin for manufacturers to 25%, while in NATO countries this figure is 17%," the minister said.
According to him, in 2023, Ukrainian companies produced, and the state purchased 100 times more drones than in 2022.
"Funding and production capacity have increased. Now we can produce more than a million FPVs a year," Fedorov assured.
- At the final conference on 19 December 2023, President Zelenskyy said that Ukraine would produce 1 million drones in 2024.
- For his part, Minister of Strategic Industry Oleksandr Kamyshin assured that Ukraine has such capabilities.
