European leaders gather in London for Ukraine security summit

World leaders are arriving at Lancaster House in central London, where UK Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer is hosting a high-level international summit on defence and security. The discussions are expected to focus heavily on efforts to secure peace in Ukraine.

Among the early arrivals were French President Emmanuel Macron and Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk, who appeared to be injured as he entered the venue, where he was greeted by Starmer. NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte followed soon after.

Other leaders in attendance include Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson, Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala, and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen. Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has also arrived to take part in the discussions.

Additionally, Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen, Dutch Prime Minister Dick Schoof, and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz have been seen arriving at the summit.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy aslo arrived, welcomed with a big hug from Starmer, and the two shared a brief chat. A loud cheer greeted Zelenskyy, coming from a pro-Ukrainian demonstration outside the security cordon.

Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez was the last to arrive, completing the lineup of world leaders at Lancaster House as discussions on Ukraine got underway.
