EU eyes deployment of military advisors to Ukraine
The EU is currently discussing the potential deployment of military advisors to Ukraine to help organize the training of Ukrainian troops
European Pravda reported that it was confirmed by European Commission spokesperson Anitta Hipper during a press briefing in Brussels on April 16.
Hipper noted that the issue of sending military personnel from EU member states was discussed on April 14 during a meeting of the EU Foreign Affairs Council in Luxembourg.
"Indeed, the matter is under discussion, but the main goal is to support Ukraine and strengthen it as much as possible. Talks are also ongoing regarding adjustments to the mission, though I cannot share further details at this time," the spokesperson told European Pravda.
She declined to clarify whether the EU training mission would only be launched after a ceasefire in Russia’s war against Ukraine, or if it could happen while hostilities are still ongoing.
- Ukraine will receive €150 million in financial assistance from Belgium by 2028, which will be directed, in particular, to the restoration and support of critical infrastructure and preparation for winter.
