Defense contracts worth UAH 582 billion finalized, half with Ukrainian manufacturers
The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has sealed contracts for weapons and military equipment totaling 582.2 billion hryvnias as of April 2024, with nearly half allocated to Ukrainian manufacturers
This was revealed by Deputy Minister Yuriy Dzhyhyr.
Dzhyhyr clarified that these agreements, spanning different years and durations, involve a payment commitment of 254 billion hryvnias in 2024.
While acknowledging the substantial support from partner nations, Dzhyhyr stressed the importance of attracting investments to bolster domestic defense capabilities.
"We urge international partners to invest in Ukraine's defense industry and procure defense goods from Ukrainian manufacturers for the Ukrainian Armed Forces. This is crucial as it will drive economic growth, promote domestic production, and benefit our nation," he emphasized.
Dzhyhyr highlighted that prioritizing domestic capacities will enhance the supply of weapons and equipment to the Ukrainian army, despite challenges posed by the war with Russia.
- Previously, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine reclaimed 1.5 billion hryvnias linked to a corruption scheme involving the purchase of artillery shells for the Armed Forces.
