Outnumbered 10 to 1: Ukrainian forces face massive Russian troop advantage near Lyman
Over the past month, the situation in the Lyman direction has deteriorated—at times, one Ukrainian soldier faces up to ten Russian troops
Anastasia Blyshchik, the spokesperson of the 66th Separate Mechanized Brigade named after Prince Mstyslav the Brave, stated this in an interview with Radio Svoboda.
"We can confirm that the situation has indeed worsened significantly over the past month. The Russians are putting immense pressure with an overwhelming number of infantry, which they have in abundance. These can be both large infantry groups and small ones that take advantage of weather conditions. They do everything to infiltrate our combat positions and quickly break into our rear to cause trouble," the spokesperson said.
She shared that the Ukrainian defenders on the Lyman front are lacking personnel. Meanwhile, despite heavy losses, Russian forces are quickly replenishing their ranks with new soldiers.
"Indeed, in some areas, there are 10 Russian soldiers for every one of our infantrymen," the spokesperson added.
- Lately, Ukrainian military operations in Russia have become less of an exception and more a direct response to ongoing aggression. After partially pulling back from the Kursk region, Ukrainian forces made gains in a new area—Belgorod.
