Ukrainian soldiers release video of downed Russian missile over Western Ukraine
Ukraine's 650th Anti-Aircraft Battalion demonstrated how they intercepted a missile on the Transcarpathia-Lviv border amid a new large-scale Russian attack on Ukraine
Viktor Mykyta, the head of the Transcarpathian Regional Military Administration, reported the information, according to Espreso.
Today, August 26, Russian troops once massively attacked Ukraine with drones and missiles.
During the attack, two Russian missiles entered Transcarpathian territory but were intercepted and destroyed. The combat action was documented in a video released by the soldiers of the Transcarpathian 650th Separate Anti-Aircraft Machine Gun Battalion of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
Missile intercepted by another missile
Former Ukrainian Air Force spokesman Yuriy Ihnat clarified that the missile was shot down by air defense, not a machine gun.
“The cruise missile was not intercepted by a machine gunner; it was brought down by another missile,” the statement said.
Another missile was shot down by air defense forces.
Russia's attack on Ukraine
In the evening of August 25, the occupying Russian army launched attack UAVs on the territory of Ukraine. In the morning, 11 Russian Tu-95MS and Tu-22M3 aircraft were spotted. Explosions have already been heard in Kyiv, Kharkiv and Poltava regions.
In Lutsk, the Russian attack damaged an apartment building and an infrastructure facility, and one person was killed. Air defense operations were reported in Ternopil and Ivano-Frankivsk regions.
Russia attacked power facilities in the Lviv region, leading to power outages both in the region and in the city of Lviv.
