Russian army concentrates efforts in Lyman, Pokrovsk directions - Ukraine's General Staff

Since the beginning of the day on July 6, 83 firefights have taken place at the front. Russian forces are concentrating their efforts on the Lyman and Pokrovsk directions

Since the beginning of the day, the Russian army has been active along almost the entire frontline, concentrating its offensive efforts in the Lyman and Pokrovsk sectors. The number of combat engagements along the frontline has increased to 83, according to the General Staff.

The Kharkiv region suffers from systematic bombing by enemy aircraft. Today, Russian troops conducted a total of nine air strikes from Russia, dropping 13 guided bombs. 

Frontline situation

In the Kharkiv sector, seven Russian attacks were repelled near Lyptsi, Hlyboke, and Vovchansk. The situation is under control.

In the Kupyansk sector, Russian troops stormed Ukrainian positions four times near Petropavlivka, Synkivka, and Stelmakhivka. Two firefights are ongoing in the vicinity of Petropavlivka and Stelmakhivka.

In the Lyman sector, the invading Russian army launched 13 attacks on Ukrainian positions near Nevske, Makiivka, Hrekivka, Terny, and Torske. Six of the engagements ended without success for the enemy, and seven are ongoing. Russian forces are most active in the vicinity of Makiivka and Nevske, accounting for over a third of all combat engagements.

In the Siversk sector, Russian forces made four attacks near Spirne and Vyimka. Ukrainian defenders repelled three attacks. A battle is currently taking place near Spirne. The situation is under control.

In the Kramatorsk sector, Ukrainian troops repelled six attacks on our positions near Kalynivka, Klishchiivka, Chasiv Yar, Andriivka, and Ivanivske.

In the Toretsk sector, Russian troops, with the support of aviation, attempted seven times to conduct assault operations near Toretsk, Zalizne, Pivnichne, and New York. A battle is ongoing in the area of New York. In addition, the invaders launched air strikes on Yurivka with unguided aerial missiles and dropped two UAVs near New York.

The Pokrovsk sector saw the largest number of combat engagements so far. Since the beginning of the day, Russian forces have made 26 attempts to force Ukrainian defenders from their positions in the areas of Yurivka, Novooleksandrivka, Vozdvyzhenka, Kalynove, Lozuvatske, Progress, Novoselivka Persha, Yevhenivka, Yasnobrodivka, and Karlivka. Eight combat engagements are still ongoing. Russian enemy also conducted air strikes in the areas of Oleksandropil and Novoselivka Persha.

Fighting continues in the Kurakhove sector. So far, Ukrainian defenders have repelled ten attacks by the occupying army. Russia is concentrating its efforts in the area of Kostiantynivka and Paraskoviivka. Russian troops bombed the areas of Kostiantynivka and Katerynivka with guided aerial bombs.

In the Vremivka sector, two enemy attacks near Vodiane were repelled. The enemy is actively using aviation, dropping a total of ten bombs near Elyzavetivka, Hannivka, Velyka Novosilka, and also launched unguided missiles near Urozhaine.

In the Orikhiv sector, Russian troops failed to advance near the settlements of Rabotyne and Novodanylivka, having launched three assaults. In addition, they bombarded the areas of Novodanylivka and Huliaipole with UAVs.

  • Over the past day, 139 combat engagements took place on the Russian-Ukrainian front. Russian forces were most active in the Lyman and Pokrovsk sectors.
