Russia-Ukraine frontline sees 250 clashes in one day, Ukraine repels 25 attacks around Kurakhove

On December 18, 250 clashes occurred on the Russian-Ukrainian front. The fiercest fighting continues in the Kursk, Pokrovsk, Kurakhove, and Vremivka sectors

The Ukrainian Armed Forces' General Staff stated this in its report as of 08:00 a.m.

Over the past day, 250 combat clashes were recorded.

Yesterday, Russian troops launched three missile strikes on the positions of Ukrainian units and populated areas, carried out 35 airstrikes, dropping 36 guided bombs. In addition, Russian forces fired over 4,250 times, including 178 times from multiple launch rocket systems.

Russian air strikes hit 4 settlements in the Donetsk region.

Yesterday the aviation, missile forces and artillery of the Ukrainian Defense Forces conducted four strikes on the Russian manpower and weapons concentrations, as well as three other key Russian targets.

Frontline update

In the Kharkiv sector, one clash occurred near Vovchansk.

In the Kupyansk sector, Russian troops attacked 26 times. Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled attacks near Petropavlivka, Kolisnykivka, and Lozova.

In the Lyman sector, Russian forces attacked 24 times near Hrekivka, Novoyehorivka, Nadiya, Yampilivka, and Terny.

In the Siversk sector, Ukrainian defenders repelled five attacks near Verkhnokamyanske.

In the Kramatorsk sector, Russian troops tried five times to advance near Chasiv Yar, Hryhorivka, and Bila Hora.

In the Toretsk sector, Russians attacked 13 times near Toretsk, Dyliyivka, and Shcherbynivka.

In the Pokrovsk sector, Ukrainian defenders repelled 48 assaults near Myroliubivka, Promin, Lysivka, Dachenske, Zelene, Novovasylivka, Chumatske, and Novoolenivka, where Russians, supported by aviation, attempted to push Ukrainian units from their positions.

In the Kurakhove sector, Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled 25 attacks near Sontsivka, Stari Terny, Kurakhove, and Dachne, where Russian troops tried to breach the defense lines.

In the Vremivka sector, Russian forces launched 25 attacks near Kostiantynopil, Rozlyv, Velyka Novosilka, Blahodatne, Novyi Komar, and Storozheve.

In the Orikhiv sector, Russian troops attempted a single breakthrough toward Novoandriivka but were repelled.

In the Prydniprovskyi sector, five clashes occurred in the island area of the Dnipro delta, with no success for the Russian army.

The operation in the Kursk region is ongoing. Russia carried out 21 air strikes and dropped 31 guided bombs over the last day. Ukrainian defenders repelled 68 Russian attacks. 

On the border with Belarus, no signs of enemy offensive groups were detected.

On the border with the Chernihiv and Sumy regions, Russia maintains its military presence, shelling settlements from Russian territory, conducting sabotage and reconnaissance, and increasing the density of mine-explosive barriers along Ukraine's state border.

  • On December 18, the occupying Russian army lost 1,530 servicemen over a day of the war. Ukrainian Defense Forces also destroyed several pieces of Russian equipment, including 5 tanks.
