144 clashes occur at front, Ukraine repels most attacks in Toretsk direction - Ukraine's General Staff

On July 17, 114 combat clashes took place at the front. Ukraine's army repelled most of the attacks in the Toretsk direction

This is stated in the General Staff’s report as of 08:00 a.m. on July 18.

According to the updated information, yesterday the Russian army launched a missile attack on the Ukrainian troops’ positions and populated areas with one missile, 67 airstrikes, including with 104 guided bombs. In addition, it made 4,605 attacks, 94 of which were from MLRS.

Russia launched air strikes at 27 settlements across Ukraine.

Yesterday, Ukraine's aviation, missile forces and artillery conducted two strikes on the Russian military equipment and manpower, destroying two command posts, an air defense facility, four radar and electronic warfare stations, and two other important targets.

In total, Russia lost 1,130 soldiers over the last day. Ukrainian forces also destroyed 7 tanks, 12 armored combat vehicles, 54 artillery systems, 50 operational and tactical UAVs, 92 vehicles, and 7 pieces of special equipment.

Frontline update 

In the Kharkiv direction, the Russian army launched offensive and assault operations. There were 20 combat clashes in the direction. All of them took place near Hlyboke and Vovchansk. Russian troops actively used bomber aircraft for attacks.

The number of attacks in the Kupyansk direction increased to 11 over the last day. The Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled all assaults near Synkivka, Novoozykove, Andriivka, Berestove, and Stelmakhivka.

In the Lyman direction, Ukrainian troops stopped 10 Russian attacks near Hrekivka, Makiivka, Terny, and Torske.

In the Siversk direction, the Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled 10 assaults. Russian troops tried to advance near Spirne, Verkhniokamianske, Vyimka, and Rozdolivka.

In the Kramatorsk direction, Ukrainian troops stopped 6 Russian attempts to break through defense. Russian forces, with the support of aviation, focused their main efforts near Chasiv Yar.

Yesterday, the invading Russian forces were active in the Toretsk direction. In total, they attacked Ukrainian positions 29 times near Pivnichne and Niu York. 

In the Pokrovsk direction, Ukrainian troops repelled 26 attacks near Novooleksandrivka, Vozdvyzhenka, Kalynove, Karlivka, Novoselivka Persha, and Yasnobrodivka, where Russian troops, supported by air power, tried to force Ukrainian units out of their positions.

In the Kurakhove direction, the Ukrainian Defense Forces stopped Russian attacks near Krasnohorivka, Heorhiivka, and Paraskoviivka, where the Russian army tried to break through defense 12 times.

In the Vremivka direction, Russian troops launched 3 assaults on Ukrainian positions near Kostiantynivka and Novodarivka.

In the Orikhiv direction, 7 firefights took place near Mala Tokmachka and Novoandriivka. In addition, Russian forces fired about a hundred unguided aerial missiles in the directions of Huliaipole, Lobkove, Rivne, Kamianske, and Piatykhatky.

In the Kherson direction, Russian troops are trying to drive the Ukrainian Defense Forces units from their positions on the left bank of the Dnipro River. Five Russian attacks were unsuccessful.

The operational situation on the border with Belarus has not changed much. No signs of the formation of enemy offensive groups were detected.

On the border with the Chernihiv and Sumy regions, Russian forces maintain a military presence, shelling settlements from the territory of Russia, and conducting sabotage and reconnaissance activities in Ukraine.

Fighting continues along almost the entire contact line. Ukrainian soldiers are holding back Russian attacks. Ukrainian artillery, reconnaissance, aviation and unmanned aerial systems are depleting the Russian forces.

  • Over the last day, 112 combat engagements took place at the front. The situation was the most intense in the Pokrovsk sector.
