Russia starts moving its Belarus-trained troops to Ukraine – General Staff

The Ukrainian Armed Forces' General Staff reported this on July 3.

"Certain units of the Belarusian Armed Forces are performing tasks in the areas bordering Ukraine. The movement of units of the Russian Armed Forces, which were trained at Belarusian military grounds, has begun for their further participation in fighting on the territory of Ukraine," the report says. 

Over the past day, Russia launched 3 guided missiles from S-300 and 20 Shahed attack drones

During the day, invading Russian forces launched three S-300 guided missiles and 20 Shaheds at civilian infrastructure facilities in the Sumy, Donetsk and Zaporizhzhia regions. Ukrainian defenders destroyed 14 drones.

The enemy also launched 44 airstrikes and about 50 attacks with multiple launch rocket systems.

Frontline situation

Invading Russian troops are attacking in the Lyman, Bakhmut, Avdiivka and Marinka directions, with over 30 combat engagements taking place over the last day.

Near the state Ukrainian border with Russia and Belarus, the situation hasn't changed significantly, and no enemy offensive groups have been detected. 

At the same time, the Russian Federation continued shelling the entire border line with mortars and artillery: over 10 settlements in the Sumy, Chernihiv and Kharkiv regions were attacked. 

Russian attack in other Ukrainian regions

In the Kupiansk direction, 5 settlements in the Kharkiv region came under artillery shelling. 

In the Lyman direction, over 10 settlements in the Luhansk and Donetsk regions came under enemy fire. 

In the Bakhmut direction, over 10 localities in the Donetsk region were attacked by the invading Russian forces. 

In the Avdiivka direction, over 10 settlements of the Donetsk region were shelled by the Russian troops. 

In the Marinka direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled all of the Russian forces' assaults, however, 4 settlements of the Donetsk region came under fire. 

In the Shakhtarsk direction, over 10 localities in the Donetsk region suffered from Russian attacks. 

In the Zaporizhzhia and Kherson directions, over 30 towns and villages were subjected to numerous attacks by the occupying Russian army. 

Ukrainian forces attacked Russian military positions 14 times over the last day

Over the last day, the Defense Forces' aviation launched 14 strikes on the invading Russian troops' military positions. In addition, missile and artillery units struck two manpower concentration areas, as well as five enemy artillery pieces at firing positions.

• On July 3, Russian troops targeted two multi-story residential buildings in Sumy, killing two people and injuring 19 more.
