Russia ruins 1,582 cultural infrastructure facilities in Ukraine, including museums, galleries, theaters and philharmonics
Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Russia has damaged 1,582 cultural infrastructure facilities, excluding heritage sites
Ukraine's Ministry of Culture and Information Policy reported this.
"As of June 25, 1,582 objects of cultural infrastructure, excluding cultural heritage monuments, were damaged; 585 of them were destroyed," the press service shared statistics.
Cultural infrastructure suffered the greatest losses and damage in the Donetsk, Kherson, Kharkiv, Kyiv, Mykolaiv, Luhansk, and Zaporizhzhia regions.
Total losses:
- club establishments: 281 destroyed, 474 damaged;
- libraries: 218 destroyed, 380 damaged by the enemy forces;
- museums and galleries: 28 destroyed and 56 damaged;
- theaters, cinemas and philharmonic societies: 10 destroyed and 16 damaged;
- art education institutions: 48 destroyed and 71 damaged.
As of March 29, more than 700 of the 1,000 cultural institutions in the Donetsk region were damaged or destroyed as a result of Russian aggression.
As of April 25, 1,373 cultural institutions and more than 550 cultural monuments have been damaged or destroyed as a result of Russia's war against Ukraine. At least USD 7 billion is needed to rebuild Ukraine's cultural infrastructure.
As of May 25, 1,520 cultural infrastructure facilities, excluding cultural heritage sites, have been damaged as a result of Russian aggression in Ukraine.
