Russia restricts departure of persons liable for military service - Ukrainian Intelligence 

This was reported by the Ukrainian Main Intelligence Directorate.

"The text states: "On January 9, 2023, from 00 hours 00 minutes, the Border Guard Department of the Russian FSB will restrict the departure from the territory Russian citizens who have a conclusion on readiness for military service from categories "A", "B" and "C"," the statement reads.

It is noted that from now on, all these categories of citizens will not be allowed to leave Russia’s territory from all checkpoints in all directions. Also, citizens of the category "B", that is, those who are limitedly fit for military service, will also be banned from leaving the country. In peacetime, they are exempt from conscription and military training and enrolled in the reserve.

The Main Intelligence Directorate reminds, previously it was reported about a new wave of mobilization in Russia. It was noted that the main thing during it will be the quantity, not the quality of the mobilized and the equipment provided to them. They emphasize that it will take about two months to equip and train the mobilized.

• On January 7, the Military Intelligence’s Main Directorate of the Defense Ministry’s deputy head Vadym Skibitskyi said that a new wave of mobilization in Russia could be announced on January 15.
