Russia mounts most forces north of Avdiivka — Ukrainian official on situation in key city
Vitaliy Barabash, head of the Avdiivka City Military Administration, noted that Russian troops are trying to concentrate their forces north of the city, launching assault operations
He shared the information on Espreso TV.
"The situation in Avdiivka is very difficult and tense, the fighting has been going on for three days, day and night. The enemy has employed all available resources, including barrel artillery, Grad rockets, mortars, and more. Additionally, the enemy has launched numerous air strikes on the city. Specifically, on October 11, there were over 20 missile launches targeting the community. Furthermore, from the evening of October 11 to the morning of October 12, 12 KAB-500 aerial bombs were directed towards Avdiivka. These days have seen an average of 500-600 enemy attacks on the positions, with around 50-60 affecting the city. We are not talking about some single incidents, because no one even counts them, these are figures of massive attacks," said the head of Avdiivka City Military Administration.
Vitaliy Barabash noted that there is a lot of destruction in the city and neighboring villages of the community.
"The fighting does not stop neither to the south nor to the north of Avdiivka. The enemy is now trying to throw most of its forces north of the city. However, the situation to the south is not easy either. The enemy is trying to concentrate in the north, because they believe they are doing well there. The enemy's assault operations have no success at all. The Russian soldiers have gnawed out a minimum of 10-20 meters trying to gain a foothold, but they are not succeeding. The enemy has not taken a single settlement of the Ocheretyne community, let alone Avdiivka," emphasized Barabash.
