This was reported by the state radio station Voice of Korea.

The delegation was headed by Russian Deputy Defense Minister Aleksey Krivoruchko.

As noted by the Russian state propaganda agency TASS, “Kim Jong Un called on the armies of the DPRK and Russia to unite to defend peace.”

“During the meeting, Kim Jong Un expressed support for Russia's military aggression in Ukraine. He recalled Vladimir Putin's recent visit to Pyongyang, emphasizing the need to strengthen ties between the armies of the two countries to ensure regional and global peace,” the Moscow Times added.

  • On June 19, Vladimir Putin visited the DPRK at the invitation of Kim Jong Un. The countries signed a comprehensive strategic partnership agreement that provides for mutual assistance in the event of an attack on one of the signatories. The DPRK leader also expressed “unconditional support” Russia in the war with Ukraine.
  • Subsequently, the North Korean state agency published the clauses of the agreement between Russia and the DPRK on a comprehensive strategic partnership. In particular, it refers to cooperation in war, science, and economy.
  • On June 20, Vladimir Putin said that if Ukraine is supplied with lethal weapons, South Korea will face decisions that Seoul will not like.
  • Defense Express military expert Ivan Kyrychevskyi believes that North Korea may send its expeditionary corps to participate in the war on the side of Russia. And Pentagon spokesman Major General Pat Ryder said that North Korean troops would become cannon fodder if they went to fight alongside Russian forces in Ukraine.
  • On July 2, the US Department of Defense stated that it had no confirmation of the DPRK sending troops to Russia.
