Russia has no intention of dropping its imperialist goals: Ukrainian officer on 30-day ceasefire
Andriy Illienko, an officer with the Svoboda Battalion of the NGU Rubizh Brigade, commented on the outcome of negotiations between the United States and Ukraine in Saudi Arabia
He shared his opinions with Espreso TV.
"As for the 30-day ceasefire: this war isn’t with America — the real issue is Russia’s actions. And right now, everything they’re doing points to an escalation of assault operations, not a pause. The enemy is taking massive losses in both manpower and equipment. The latest attacks in our area just days ago also resulted in significant enemy casualties. But it looks like they've been given direct orders to ramp up their offensive at the front," Illienko said.
This could be linked to ongoing negotiations, he noted. But one thing is clear — Russia has no intention of abandoning its imperialist and chauvinistic goals, which include, above all, the total destruction of Ukraine and its people.
"We shouldn’t jump to conclusions, but we need to stay strong. We have to be ready to counter Moscow’s aggression at any moment," he added.
- On March 11, Ukrainian and American delegations met in Jeddah. Following the meeting, Kyiv agreed to a 30-day ceasefire with Russia, while the U.S. committed to immediately resuming intelligence-sharing and security assistance.
