Russia forms new military unit for Kherson region defense – British intelligence
Russia is expanding its military structures and plans to create a new formation to use in the defense of the Kherson region
This was reported by the British Ministry of Defense. It is about the 18th army of the Russian Federation, which will be deployed with other units in the Kherson region.
"Including the 22nd Army Corps, which acts as a Russian garrison in occupied Crimea," says British intelligence.
It is reported that the new group will be formed mostly from newly mobilized soldiers. Russia plans to focus them on strengthening the defense of southern Ukraine in order to make the more experienced units available for war in more key areas.
"There is a realistic possibility that this has led to the recent re-deployment of airborne forces from Kherson to the heavily contested Orikhiv sector," analysts emphasize.
