Leaked video exposes Russian PSYOP: commander admits bombing civilians in Sudzha
A leaked video shows Russian military commander Apti Alaudinov admitting knowledge of Russian airstrikes on a civilian shelter in Sudzha, despite earlier promises to secure safe passage for those inside
On February 1, the Russian military launched airstrikes on an orphanage in Sudzha, Kursk region, where nearly 100 elderly civilians and people with disabilities had taken refuge. The attack came despite earlier negotiations between Ukrainian military command representative Oleksii Dmytrashkivskyi and Apti Alaudinov, commander of the Chechen Akhmat special forces unit, during which Alaudinov assured that the facility would remain untouched.
Dmytrashkivskyi released video evidence of his conversation with Alaudinov, revealing that the commander was fully aware the building housed only civilians. Negotiations for a "green corridor" to safely evacuate the residents had taken place long before the bombing. Alaudinov even pledged to personally oversee their protection, stating, "If I say I will do it, then I will either fulfill my word or die."
However, this promise was never kept. Instead, the facility endured relentless attacks, beginning with drone strikes and culminating in an air-dropped bomb on February 1. The assault left the building severely damaged and its occupants stranded in freezing conditions without heating or proper shelter.
In the video, Alaudinov initially denied involvement in the strikes, attributing the attacks to other Russian military units. "I cannot strike from my position. It must be coming from different units on the other side," he said. Despite these claims, his earlier admission and promise to prevent attacks on the orphanage raise serious questions about the Russian military’s actions and the deliberate targeting of civilians.
The incident highlights the dangerous and fragile situation for civilians caught in the conflict, further exposing contradictions between Russia’s public statements and on-the-ground actions.
