"Biden ships weapons to Nazi battalions in Ukraine": foreign disinformation for August 20
Ukrainian Center for Countering Disinformation has published a selection of anti-Ukrainian disinformation released by the world media on August 20
The Center published two fakes that appeared globally on August 20.
Disinformation: German-Finnish blogger Kim Dotcom wrote on his X page: “Joe Biden speaks about the bad Neo-Nazis in America while shipping weapons to Nazi battalions in Ukraine.”
Refutation: Kim Dotcom is spreading the Russian propaganda narrative of “Nazis in the Armed Forces of Ukraine” to tarnish the Ukrainian military and undermine the United States' support for Ukraine.
Disinformation: Former U.S. intelligence officer Scott Ritter said: “Can the Ukrainians fortify themselves and deter Russian attacks and then say, ‘Yeah, we have a piece of territory in Kursk that we’ll trade for Kherson’? The West likes this idea, but it is foolish because Kherson is Russia. Kherson was incorporated into Russia at the constitutional level. It is a part of Russia, and Russia is not going to give it up.”
Refutation: Kherson is Ukrainian territory, and claims that it is “part of Russia” are based on the results of a so-called referendum that is illegal and not recognized by the international community.
