Russia fails to encircle Avdiivka - City Military Administration chief
Vitaliy Barabash, head of the Avdiivka City Military Administration, notes that Russia has suffered losses of several thousand personnel during the days of combat escalation near Avdiivka
He shared the information on Espreso TV.
"The situation has not changed fundamentally, the enemy is still shelling. The enemy is still trying to storm the positions in the south and north of the city. The enemy's pace has slowed down a bit, and the number of attacks on the community's territory has decreased over the past two days. According to the report of the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, the total number of assault actions of the Russian army has decreased, respectively, the enemy's activity in our direction has decreased," commented the head.
Vitaliy Barabash suggested that perhaps Russia is running out of breath or has already run out of steam, because during the first days of this escalation, its troops were very active all at once, hoping for a quick result, but they failed.
"And as a result, when the enemy was attacking with large forces of equipment and personnel in these early days, they suffered heavy losses. Talking to our guys, they give different figures for enemy losses. It is definitely several thousand. Apparently, our fighters also say that they have already crushed two enemy brigades. And this is probably the third brigade. There are interceptions, there are prisoners who say they don't want to go to fighting anymore because they have a lot of barrier units. The fact that the enemy has failed to encircle Avdiivka is unequivocal," summarized Barabash.
