Romania’s president says no Russian drones have crashed in country
On Tuesday, September 5, Romania’s President Klaus Iohannis said that neither Russian drones nor any debris had fallen on the country's territory
This is reported by the Romanian news site G4Media.ro.
At a press conference in Cincu, the country's leader said that no parts, drones, or other parts of any device had fallen in Romania.
"Nothing has reached Romania, but yes, we are concerned because these attacks are taking place very close to the Romanian border. The defense minister told me about the attacks 800 meters from our border," Iohannis said.
The Romanian president claimed that the state fully owns its airspace and has very strong security guarantees.
What happened before
On the night of September 3 to 4, Russia launched a massive attack on southern Ukraine with Iranian 'kamikaze' drones. According to Ukrainian border guards, some of the drones crashed and exploded on the territory of Romania, a NATO member state. Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said that there was photographic evidence of the drones falling in Romania.
The Romanian Foreign Ministry stated that the drone attacks carried out by the Russian Federation did not pose a direct military threat to the national territory or territorial waters.
