Putin has lost, just like Hitler in 1943 - European Commission Vice President Timmermans
Executive Vice-President of the European Commission Frans Timmermans says that Russian leader Vladimir Putin is in the same position as Adolf Hitler in 1943 - defeat is obvious, but the war is far from over.
This opinion was expressed by Frans Timmermans, Executive Vice President of the European Commission, in an interview with Nieuwsblad.
He noted that the military leadership does not dare to tell Russian President Vladimir Putin the full truth about the state of the Russian army, and the country has become a world pariah.
“Russia is now a complete outcast on the international stage. Sanctions bite hard - I dare say. The war costs a lot of money. And Putin has already lost. He was wrong about the resilience of the Ukrainians. Because no one dares to tell him the whole truth anymore, in particular about the state of his army that was destroyed by corrupt officers,” Frans Timmermans said.
The vice-president of the European Commission reminded that “Hitler also lost the war at the end of 1943, and it lasted two more years.”
According to Timmermans, Putin can wreak havoc for a long time: “Hence the bombing of Ukraine's energy infrastructure. This is done with the intention of reducing people to such poverty that millions come to Europe.”
In his opinion, the coordinated and consistent actions of the West, regardless of the events on the battlefield, is the only thing that will be able to change the course of Russia.
“As soon as Putin and Lavrov start to think that there are cracks on the front, they will be able to hold out even longer. We must keep our ranks closed, keep the front with the Americans and continue to support Ukraine financially and militarily,” the executive vice president of the European Commission urged.
