Putin has failed to realize single goal in 500 days - former Polish President
Former Polish President Aleksander Kwaśniewski believes that Russian dictator Vladimir Putin hasn't achieved a single goal in the 500 days of his war of aggression against Ukraine
The politician said this in an interview with Ukrinform.
According to the former Polish president, Putin's plan to prevent NATO expansion has failed, as Finland has already joined the Alliance and Sweden will soon do so.
In addition, Russia failed to capture Kyiv and kill or arrest President Zelenskyy.
"Kyiv is standing, the war has been going on for almost 500 days, the Ukrainian state is functioning, not only ordinary passengers but also presidents of countries can travel to Kyiv," Kwaśniewski said.
"Thirdly, and perhaps most importantly, Putin was convinced that the Ukrainian people did not exist, that their national consciousness was low, and that they would not fight Russia so hard. Today, if he still has some rational thought, he should understand that Ukrainians have a very strong national consciousness, they are determined to fight for Ukraine's independence and show extraordinary heroism in this struggle. The idea that he would be greeted in Ukraine with flowers was a myth of Russian propaganda. All the calculations on which the Russian aggression relied turned out to be false," the Polish politician added.
According to him, "in 500 days, Putin has not managed to realize a single goal, and this should be a disaster for him."
