Prigozhin, Kadyrov are interested in Putin's security, therefore there is no coup threat -  Nazarbayev's former adviser

Alnur Mussayev, the former head of Kazakhstan's National Security Committee and former adviser to the Kazakh president on national security issues, said this on the air of the Studio West with Antin Borkovskyi program on Espreso TV. 

“Putin has the appearance of being paranoid about his personal security. It is unlikely today that the security forces will dare to attempt a coup d'état. The influence of the FSB forces or other special services on political life in Russia has weakened,” Mussayev noted.

In his opinion, they can organize some opposition to other forces.

“Prigozhin, some generals of the Ministry of Defense and Kadyrov are interested in Putin's security. Putin is needed today. They see his weakness, they see the strengthening of their own influence on him, and with his hands they support their own growth and their own influence on political life inside the country and outside its borders. In such conditions, there is no threat of a coup d'état against Putin,” Nazarbayev's former adviser said. 

Mussayev added that various structures, feeling that Putinism in Russia is suffering a crushing defeat, are trying to wait out this period.

“Many influential political figures went abroad. These people were forced out of the country, who could hinder the influence of all these "hawks", terrorist-oriented people who surrounded and embraced Putin from all sides. Today, Putin is in such a cocoon that the "hawks" do not allow him to take an extra step. The desire of many Russians and political circles of Russia for some kind of peace negotiations is being torpedoed in every possible way by "hawks" and terrorist-oriented political figures,” he said. 

He believes that even if Putin wanted real negotiations regarding the restoration of relations with Ukraine and the withdrawal of his troops, he no longer has any influence on this.

“He cannot change this direction now. Although it would be a salvation for him. And capitulation and defeat in Ukraine will be his final political, and possibly also physical death. And this is what the whole world is waiting for - both in Russia and in our country Kazakhstan, that everything related to the war in Ukraine is moving in this direction, today everyone is waiting for it to collapse and disappear. After the surrender, those militant terrorist structures may seize power, there are signs of this. That they strive for this is visible in all directions, but will they be able to make it happen? The question is big, and it is difficult to predict here,” he concluded.
