Political advisors from 15 countries discuss Ukraine Peace Formula in Copenhagen

A meeting of political and national security advisors has taken place in the Danish capital to discuss the basic principles of achieving peace in Ukraine

The head of the President's Office, Andriy Yermak, wrote about this on Telegram.

The head of the President's Office notes that consultations on the key principles of peace were held with national security and political advisers from Brazil, Canada, Denmark, France, Germany, India, Italy, Japan, Germany, Japan, South Africa, Saudi Arabia, South Korea, Turkey, Ukraine, the United Kingdom, and the United States.

The Ukrainian delegation spoke about the details of the proposed Peace Formula, emphasizing that it should become the basis for achieving a sustainable and just peace for Ukraine, as the war continues on our territory.

“The national security and political advisors agreed that the format of the consultations was successful, and that it was a good platform for continuing the work and further elaborating on the issue of holding a Global Peace Summit in the future,” Yermak said.

He added that the participants agreed to continue the consultation format.

During the consultations, Yermak noted that the meeting of the advisors in Copenhagen is a clear signal of respect for Ukraine and the just struggle, support for the territorial integrity of our country and sovereignty, which are the fundamental principles of the UN, shared by the countries present at the meeting.

In addition, the Ukrainian side suggested venues that could become potential locations for the Global Peace Summit, including Ukraine and the UN General Assembly.

“The participation of a significant number of countries from the Global South demonstrates that significant positive changes are taking place in the relations between our countries and that they are reaching a qualitatively new level of relations,” he said.

What is known about the Ukrainian Peace Formula

In November 2022, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy named the Ukrainian Peace Formula, which contains 10 points:

  1. Radiation and nuclear safety.

  2. Food safety.

  3. Energy security.

  4. Release of all prisoners of war and deportees.

  5. Implementation of the UN Charter and restoration of Ukraine's territorial integrity and world order.

  6. Withdrawal of Russian troops and cessation of hostilities.

  7. Return of justice.

  8. Counteracting ecocide.

  9. Preventing escalation.

  10. Fixing the end of the war.

In his address to the participants of the International Organization of la Francophonie, he called on countries to choose at least one element from the Peace Formula that each of them can help Ukraine implement.

The United States and the G7 countries have expressed support for Zelenskyy's Peace Formula, as it could be a potential plan to end the war.

In January 2023, the MFA called on all responsible states to support and promote the Peace Formula, which can restore security and justice to Ukraine and the world.

In May, Zelenskyy expressed his desire for the Peace Formula summit to take place in July.

In June, the President called on the Organization of American States to work on the implementation of the Ukrainian Peace Formula.
