Poland officially applies to Germany for permission to transfer tanks to Ukraine
Poland has sent an official request to Germany to allow the transfer of Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine.

Polish Defense Minister Mariusz Błaszczak wrote about this on Twitter.
According to him, an application for transfer of Leopard tanks to Ukraine was submitted to the German side.
"Germans have already received our request for consent to transfer Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine. I also appeal to the German side with a request to join the coalition of countries that support Ukraine with Leopard 2 tanks. This is our common cause, because it is about the security of the whole of Europe!" he wrote.

On January 19, Poland announced its intention to transfer Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine, regardless of Berlin's decision as a country producing this equipment.

During the meeting of the Contact Group on Defense of Ukraine in Ramstein on January 20, ministers did not agree on the provision of Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine.

On January 24, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said that Germany's permission to supply Leopard tanks to Ukraine "will come soon", so countries can prepare weapons for transfer.
