The Permanent Representation of Poland to the EU announced the new batch of planes for Ukraine on Twitter.
“Out of the 575 tanks delivered to Ukraine so far, as many as 325 have been given by Poland,” they tweeted.
In total, Poland has at least 22 MiG-29 fighters in its Air Force.
The MiG-29 is a fourth-generation Soviet multi-role fighter aircraft. It was the main multi-role fighter of the Warsaw Pact countries and the USSR during the 1980s. It is currently in service in many countries, including Ukraine.
In mid-March, Poland and Slovakia agreed to provide Ukraine with MiG-29 fighter jets. Initially, Poland handed over 8 MiG-29 aircraft to Ukraine.
On April 15, Polish President Andrzej Duda said that Poland would transfer MiG-29s to Ukraine gradually, as it replenishes its fleet with FA-50 and later F-35 fighters.
In mid-April, Poland asked the German government to approve the delivery of Soviet-made MiG-29 fighters to Ukraine, which Warsaw received from old GDR stocks. Germany promptly approved the delivery.
As of April 17, Slovakia announced the arrival of all 13 announced MiG-29 fighters in Ukraine.
