The cause of the collapse of two floors in a five-story residential building in Nizhnevartovsk was a gas explosion. According to the mayor of the city Dmitry Koshchenko, the house was not gasified.
Later, the emergency services reported that the cause of the explosion was the incorrect installation of the gas cylinder and a violation of the rules of its operation.
The Russian Ministry of Emergency Situation has officially confirmed the death of four people. The analysis of rubble under which there may be victims continues.
Nizhnevartovsk is located in the Khanty-Mansiysk district of the Tyumen region, where some of the largest oil and gas deposits in the Russian Federation are concentrated.
