PACE adopts resolution supporting Ukraine’s Peace Formula and country's NATO membership
The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe on Thursday adopted a resolution on the political consequences of Russia's aggression against Ukraine, which, among other things, supported Kyiv's accession to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) and the Ukrainian Peace Formula
This was reported by Ukrainian delegate to the Council of Europe, Ukrainian MP Yevheniya Kravchuk.
80 members of the PACE supported the resolution calling on the COE member states that are NATO members to support Ukraine's accession to the Alliance, as well as supporting Kyiv's Peace Formula and welcoming the creation of the Register of Damage Caused by Russian Aggression.
The Council of Europe's resolution also condemns the destruction of the Kahovka dam and confirms that the Russian leadership "recklessly threatens nuclear war and uses the occupation of the Zaporizhia nuclear power plant for blackmail purposes."
Members of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe also call for continued work on establishing an international compensation mechanism and a Special Tribunal for the Crime of Russian Aggression, as well as increasing sanctions pressure and international isolation of the aggressor state.
The document also calls for the prosecution of all private military companies and Russia's allies who commit crimes on the territory of Ukraine. It also calls for the creation of a public register of companies and individuals working in the interests of Russia and involved in the circumvention of sanctions.
